Community Standards

The standards that help keep Top 3 welcoming, useful and safe.

Last Updated: September 9, 2026

Top 3 is a social discovery app built around sharing the things people enjoy and discovering the tastes of others.

These Community Standards explain the kinds of content and behaviour that are not permitted on Top 3. They apply to profiles, usernames, biographies, Top 3 lists, comments, and other content or interactions made available through the service.

These standards work together with the Top 3 Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Our goal is to keep Top 3 welcoming, useful, and safe while allowing people to express different tastes, opinions, and perspectives.

1. Treat People With Respect

Disagreement is allowed. Harassment and abuse are not.

Do not:

threaten, intimidate, stalk, or bully another person;

repeatedly target someone with unwanted abusive or degrading comments;

encourage others to harass or target another person;

make credible threats of violence or serious physical harm; or

use Top 3 primarily to shame, humiliate, or abuse another person.

Criticism, disagreement, negative opinions, and discussion of public figures or creative works are not automatically harassment. Context matters.

2. Hate and Dehumanizing Content

Top 3 does not permit content that attacks, threatens, dehumanizes, or promotes violence against people based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or similar characteristics protected by applicable law.

Do not:

use severe identity-based slurs to attack another person or group;

call for violence against a protected group;

portray a protected group as inherently subhuman; or

promote hatred or serious harm directed at people because of a protected characteristic.

Discussion, criticism, education, reporting, or quotation involving hateful language may be treated differently when the context clearly does not promote hatred or abuse.

3. Violence and Threats

Do not use Top 3 to threaten, encourage, celebrate, or coordinate serious violence against another person or group.

This includes:

direct threats to kill or seriously injure someone;

calls for others to commit violence;

encouragement of murder or serious physical attacks; and

content intended to intimidate someone through a credible threat of violence.

Discussion of violence in movies, television, books, games, music, news, history, or other cultural contexts is allowed when it is not being used to threaten or encourage real-world harm.

4. Suicide and Self-Harm

Do not encourage, pressure, instruct, or tell another person to kill or seriously harm themselves.

Discussion of mental health, suicide, self-harm, recovery, fictional works, music, books, movies, or personal experiences is not prohibited simply because it addresses difficult subjects.

Content may be removed when it encourages or promotes real-world self-harm or suicide.

If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis-support service in your area.

5. Sexual Exploitation and the Safety of Minors

Top 3 does not permit sexual exploitation or sexual content involving minors.

Do not post, request, promote, describe for exploitative purposes, or facilitate:

child sexual abuse or exploitation material;

sexualization or sexual exploitation of minors;

grooming or attempts to solicit sexual interaction with minors; or

threats of sexual violence or exploitation.

Content presenting an immediate safety concern may also be reported to appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law.

6. Sexually Explicit Content

Top 3 is designed for cultural and entertainment discovery, not for sharing pornography or sexually explicit material.

Do not use profiles, comments, lists, or other user-submitted areas primarily to distribute pornographic or explicitly sexual content.

References to, discussion of, or ranking legitimate movies, television programs, books, music, games, artists, or other cultural works are not prohibited merely because those works contain mature themes.

7. Privacy and Personal Information

Respect other people's privacy.

Do not:

publish another person's private contact information, home address, financial information, passwords, authentication information, or similarly sensitive information without authorization;

threaten to expose private information as a means of intimidation or harassment; or

use information obtained through Top 3 to stalk, threaten, or harm someone.

Be thoughtful about the personal information you include in your own profile, comments, and lists, particularly information that may be visible to other users.

8. Impersonation and Deceptive Behaviour

Do not impersonate another person or organization in a way that is intended to deceive others.

Do not:

create an account pretending to be another person;

falsely claim an affiliation or identity for deceptive purposes;

use misleading account information to facilitate fraud or abuse; or

deliberately misrepresent who you are in order to manipulate another user.

Parody, commentary, or fan accounts should not misleadingly present themselves as the person or organization they reference.

9. Spam, Manipulation, and Abuse of the Service

Do not use Top 3 to spam, manipulate engagement, interfere with other users, or abuse the service.

This includes:

repetitive or unsolicited promotional comments;

automated or coordinated activity intended to manipulate likes, follows, rankings, or other features;

scams, phishing, or fraudulent solicitations;

malicious links;

attempts to circumvent moderation or blocking features; and

attempts to disrupt, probe, damage, overload, or gain unauthorized access to Top 3 or another user's account.

10. Intellectual Property

Only submit content that you have the right to share.

Do not use Top 3 to infringe another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.

Top 3 displays information and media relating to movies, television, books, music, games, artists, and other cultural works through third-party content sources. The presence of a work in Top 3 does not give users ownership of that material or permission to copy or redistribute it outside the uses permitted by Top 3 and applicable law.

11. Illegal and Seriously Harmful Activity

Do not use Top 3 to facilitate, coordinate, or promote illegal activity that creates a meaningful risk of harm to people, property, or the service.

Content may also be restricted or removed when required by applicable law or a valid legal process.

12. Reporting Content or Users

If you encounter content or behaviour that you believe violates these Community Standards, use Top 3's reporting tools where available.

Reports may include information about:

the user or content being reported;

the reason for the report; and

additional details you choose to provide.

Submitting a report does not guarantee that content or an account will be removed. Reports are reviewed in context, and Top 3 may determine that reported content does not violate these standards.

Do not knowingly submit false or abusive reports in an attempt to harass another user or manipulate moderation decisions.

13. Blocking

Top 3 provides blocking tools so that users can limit interactions with other accounts.

You may block another user when you no longer want that account to interact with you or access your content in the ways restricted by Top 3's blocking features.

Blocking is a personal safety and experience control. A blocked account is not automatically considered to have violated these Community Standards.

14. How Moderation Works

Top 3 may use automated filtering and manual review to help enforce these standards.

Automated systems can help prevent certain clearly prohibited language or content from being submitted, but automated filtering cannot understand every context and will not identify every violation.

Content that is not automatically blocked may still violate these standards.

When reviewing a report or potential violation, Top 3 may consider factors such as:

the content itself;

the surrounding context;

the apparent intent;

the severity of the behaviour;

whether the behaviour is repeated;

the potential for harm; and

relevant legal or platform requirements.

Top 3 may remove or restrict content that violates these standards, the Terms of Use, applicable law, or platform requirements.

Where warranted, Top 3 may also restrict, suspend, or terminate an account.

Serious safety, security, legal, or abuse concerns may require action without advance notice.

15. Context Matters

Top 3 is centered on entertainment, culture, personal taste, and opinion. People are allowed to dislike things, disagree strongly, make jokes, discuss controversial works, and express unpopular opinions.

Moderation should distinguish between discussion of a subject and endorsement of harmful conduct.

For example, a user may rank or discuss a movie involving violence without promoting real-world violence, discuss a book dealing with suicide without encouraging self-harm, or refer to offensive language while criticizing or explaining it.

Context does not excuse genuine threats, targeted harassment, exploitation, or other serious violations.

16. Enforcement and Repeated Violations

The action Top 3 takes may depend on the nature, context, severity, and frequency of a violation.

Possible actions may include:

removing or restricting content;

limiting access to features;

restricting an account;

suspending an account; or

terminating an account.

Severe violations may result in stronger action without prior warnings.

Repeated attempts to evade enforcement may also result in additional action.

17. Changes to These Standards

Top 3 may update these Community Standards as the service evolves, new safety issues arise, or legal and platform requirements change.

When these standards are updated, the "Last Updated" date will be changed.

Material changes may also be communicated through Top 3 where appropriate.
